Insecticide

The word insecticide is used in many forms of treatments against insect pests, from ants to wasps. There are hundreds of different insecticides to use, depending on the target insect and conditions. Insecticides work in different ways as well. Some insecticides are called “residual” as they leave an invisible film that can still be active after treatment for many weeks. There are also “Insect Growth Regulator” insecticides which prevent young nymph and larvae stage insects from reaching maturity, therefore making them unable to reproduce. Contact insecticides like dust and micro capsules, act as a quick kill to any insect that comes into contact with them.
