Cat Fleas

The cat flea is a small, blood sucking, insect of the order Siphonoptera. Adult cat fleas are 1-2 mm in length and are reddish-brown in colour, but this can vary. The cat flea is a very thin insect making it easy for them to hide on pets. The cat flea’s primary host is the domestic cat, but the cat flea is also the primary flea infesting dogs. The cat flea can also maintain its life cycle on other carnivores and on omnivores. If the female flea is allowed to feed for twelve consecutive hours on a human, it can lay viable eggs.
